Avtex Fibers

Location: Front Royal, Warren County

Narrative: Facility that manufactured rayon and other fibers. Wastes were disposed of in impoundments and fill areas, resulting in contamination of soil, groundwater, and the nearby Shenandoah River.

Buckingham County Landfill

Location: Near Dillwyn, Buckingham County

Narrative: Landfill were solvent and paste wastes were dumped into trenches and allowed to evaporate. Remaining materials and crushed drums were buried. Groundwater contamination resulted.
