Army Creek Landfill

Location: New Castle, New Castle County

Narrative: An abandoned sand and gravel quarry subsequently used to dispose of nearly two million cubic yards of municipal and industrial waste. Various chemicals now contaminate groundwater downgradient of the site.

Contaminants: Arsenic Benzene bis(2-chloroethyl)ether Chromium 1,2-Dichloroethane Manganese Mercury Thallium


Blades Groundwater

Location: Blades, Sussex County

Narrative: Metals associated with electroplating processes and PFAS were discovered in eight residential wells and three public drinking water supply wells.

Narrative: PVC plastic manufacturing facility where disposal of wastes into pits and lagoons resulted in soil and groundwater contamination.
