Pokeweed
Phytolacca americana

Pokeweed is a tall plant found throughout most of the eastern United States.

The flowers form bright purple berries that, based on my experience at least, produce lasting stains.

I've read that the berries may be poisonous to humans, but some birds seem to relish the berries, and the resulting droppings appear to retain much of the original color and staining capacity of the berries.
