Horsemint Monarda punctata Horsemint is also known as Spiked Bee Balm. Member of the Mint Family. The brightly colored leaves aren't flower petals; they seem to serve rather as attractive landing pads for insects to reach the much smaller flowers closer to the stems. These plants were absolutely mobbed by bees and wasps, some of the latter quite large. |
