Snapping Turtle Chelydra serpentina Snapping Turtle. I encountered this individual as it was crossing a road in a Fish and Wildlife Area in northern Indiana. It was not happy to see me, and I was willing to give it a wide berth. Snappers have powerful jaws, and the claws (left, bottom) are impressive as well. |
