Reptiles and Amphibians There are many species of reptiles and amphibians in North America. Behler and King, in The National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians, offer the following species counts for North American north of Mexico: Salamanders - 137 species Frogs and Toads - 81 species Crocodiles - 3 species Turtles - 48 species Lizards - 115 species Snakes - 115 species Obviously, only a few of them are represented on this site.
