      Flora: Jack-in-the-Pulpit

Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Arisaema atrorubens

Jack-in-the-Pulpit photo Experts differ on the number of species, with some lumping J-in-P's into a single species, and others breaking them out into three. Whatever they're called, these are striking wildflowers. They emerge in spring and the vegetative structures can persist well into the summer. They can grow as high as three feet. Member of the Arum family. Photographed in central Indiana.
