      Flora: Autograph Tree

Autograph Tree
Clusia rosea

Autograph Tree photoFound in south Florida and the Florida Keys. Nelson states that its origin is questionable; the species may be introduced. Marks on the leaves are said to remain for long periods, even after the leaf has been removed from the tree. Scurlock lists a number of different names for the tree, including Pitch Apple, Balsam Apple, Signature Tree, Monkey Apple, Scotch Attorney, and Copey. Photographed in Everglades National Park.
